Special Needs as a Second Language by Lori Miller Fox

This was the blog that I followed. It was interesting to hear from the perspective of parents and other individuals as to why they are critical of special education in schools. This particular blog, the parent compares being an "outsider" to an "insider" experience when it comes to understanding how a child with special needs impacts the family. Some of this parents opinions are very interesting!
I enjoyed reading your blog post about the parent -home life perspective, I thought it was extremely insightful and interesting to hear what the parent's opinion and views were on the success and strengths of their child as a student in the school life arena.
ReplyDeleteIt is interesting to me that you brought up the "insider" and "outsider" perspective, those are areas of this issue I never would have thought to venture into had you not mentioned it here.
Thanks for sharing this blog post! This article reminded me of the fact that not only are the students affected by their disabilities but so are their families. I thought it was pretty neat to hear from the parents of children with disabilities and to read some of the common terms and their definitions. Again thanks for sharing the link to the post, it was fun and informative to read!
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting this blog, it is so interesting!! It is good to hear how parents are affected because we do not see that side until we have out own classrooms. I seem to always forget that these issues affect families as well. Good post!
